Switch from Monarch or another app
Export your history from Monarch, Apple Card, Rocket Money or a CSV, connect the banks you still use, then import straight away.
Updated
What comes across from your old app
Treasury imports from Monarch, Apple Card and Rocket Money, and from any app’s CSV file. See Which apps and files you can import.
- Transactions come with their dates, amounts, descriptions and notes. Rocket Money transactions you hid arrive excluded.
- Categories that match one of yours by name use your category. You choose which others to add. Transactions in the rest arrive uncategorized, and Treasury categorizes them in the background. See Import your data.
- Accounts that match none in Treasury become new manual accounts with no balance. See Where imported transactions go.
- Balance history from a Monarch or CSV balances file fills in your net worth history.
Budgets, recurring items, rules and tags don’t come across. New members get a first budget during setup, and Treasury finds bills as your banks sync.
Switch in this order
- Export your transactions, and balances if your app has them. See Export from Monarch, Apple Card or Rocket Money.
- In Treasury, connect the banks you still use. See Connect a bank. A Monarch import asks you to do this first.
- Import your files straight away in Settings → Data Import. See Import your data.
- In Settings → Manual Accounts, look for accounts the import created. An import uses a connected account only when its name and last digits match, or its exact name when the file has no digits. See Where imported transactions go.
- Check the months your import and your bank share for doubles.
If you’re new, choose Bring my history during setup. Setup links your banks first and then opens the import. See Start fresh or bring your history.
The order matters because of duplicates. When your bank sends a transaction after the import, Treasury skips it if it looks like an imported one in the same account. An import that runs after your bank synced skips only exact matches, which are rare. See What happens to duplicates.
Don’t import before connecting the same bank. The import puts that history in a new manual account, and the bank then adds its own copy to a separate account.
If your export already covers recent months, you can choose a shorter Transaction History when you connect in Settings → Connections or a Monarch import. Fewer months then overlap.
If you see doubles after switching
Doubles show up in Transactions as two matching payments on or near the same date, often with slightly different names.
- To remove a few doubles, delete them.
- To start again, undo the import within 7 days. Remove the months your bank already has from the file, then import it again.
Importing the same file again doesn’t remove doubles, because it only skips exact matches. An undo can also leave gaps. Bank transactions that arrived after the import were skipped when the import had them. Undo removes the only copy, and your bank won’t send them again.
- If history landed in a separate manual account, merge it into the connected account. Then check for doubles again.
Finish setting up after you switch
- Balances: accounts the import created start at zero. Update each balance so your net worth is right.
- Budget: check the budget Treasury made, or create your own.
- Bills: confirm the bills Treasury found in Review detected bills.
- Categories: categorize anything that arrived without one in Turbo-Review.
